PNG · WebP with transparency — never leaves your browser
Six shadow styles
One cutout, every product photo shadow your listings need.
The tool reads your product's outline, classifies its base, and pre-selects the best-fitting look — you can switch any time.
Studio
Soft contact shadow plus a short cast — like a softbox studio shot. The safe default for boxes, bottles, shoes and cosmetics.
Marketplace
A barely-there grounding shadow that stays inside Amazon's no-props, no-effects hero-image rules.
Floating
An offset soft shadow that reads as the product hovering. Made for jewelry, apparel and anything without a flat base.
Flat-lay
A tiny, even lift for top-down shots of clothing, stationery and packaging.
Long shadow
A dramatic golden-hour cast for social posts and ads — not for marketplace listings.
Reflection
A glossy showroom-floor mirror, popular for electronics, watches and cosmetics.
How it works
Three steps. About ten seconds.
01
Drop your cutout.
Any PNG or WebP with a transparent background — straight from your background remover. The tool reads the alpha edge to find exactly where your product touches the ground.
02
Pick a look.
The shape of your product is analyzed — broad base, narrow base, multiple contact points, or floating — and the best-fitting shadow is pre-selected. Switch styles and background colors instantly.
03
Download your PNG.
Full resolution, no watermark, no signup. The whole thing runs in your browser — your photo is never uploaded anywhere.
Why product photos need a shadow
A background-removed product photo without a shadow looks like a sticker: it floats, edges feel cut out, and the whole listing reads as amateur. A soft contact shadow anchors the product to a surface and is often the single biggest realism upgrade you can make to a cutout — buyers can't name what changed, but a product image with a shadow suddenly reads as professionally shot.
This tool analyzes the transparent edge of your image to find where the product meets the ground, classifies its shape, and renders a physically plausible shadow for it — the same engine that powers batch shadow generation inside ProductScene.
Amazon note
Marketplace-safe by design
Amazon main images must show the product on pure white with no added graphics — and heavy effects can trigger image reviews. The Marketplace preset produces exactly the kind of subtle, natural contact shadow that passes: it grounds your product without reading as an effect. For Etsy, Shopify and social you have far more freedom.

Questions, answered.
How do I add a shadow to a product image?
Upload a background-removed PNG or WebP above, pick one of the six shadow styles, and download the result — a full-resolution product image with the shadow baked in. The whole process takes about ten seconds and runs entirely in your browser.
Is this shadow generator really free?
Yes. No signup, no watermark, no export limit. It runs entirely in your browser, so it costs us almost nothing to offer — it's a demo of the shadow engine inside ProductScene's batch editor.
Does my product photo get uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is decoded, analyzed and rendered locally on your device using your browser's canvas. Nothing is sent to a server — you can watch the network tab to verify.
Why does my image need a transparent background?
The shadow is built from your image's alpha (transparency) edge — that's how the tool knows your product's outline and where it touches the ground. JPEGs can't store transparency. If your photo still has its background, ProductScene can remove it free when you start a trial.
Are these shadows allowed on Amazon hero images?
Amazon requires the main image to show the product on pure white without props or effects, but natural, subtle shadows are generally accepted. Use the Marketplace preset — it's tuned to ground the product while staying conservative enough for hero shots.
Can I add shadows to my whole catalog at once?
That's what ProductScene's batch editor does: upload your photo session, and background removal, shadows, platform resizing and cross-platform exports run across every image in one pass. The free trial includes 20 photos with no watermark.
Product photo shadows for your whole catalog.
This tool does one image at a time. ProductScene's batch editor removes backgrounds, adds shadows, and exports every marketplace dimension across your entire photo session — in one pass.
