Poshmark photo guide
How to take pictures for Poshmark
Poshmark is a feed: shoppers scroll quickly, and your cover shot decides whether they stop. Since Poshmark's 2026 update, listing and cover photos appear in portrait 3:4 in search and the feed, so items fill more of the screen than the old square tiles did.
This guide covers the setup, how to frame for the portrait feed, the shots that answer buyers' questions, and the rules that get listings removed.
Quick answer
Shoot your cover photo in portrait 3:4 with the item centered and filling the frame, on a white or simple background in soft light. Then add tags, flaws, measurements and other angles. Poshmark allows up to 16 photos and one video of up to 15 seconds per listing.
- Feed and cover photos display in portrait 3:4 (square photos still work but get framed as portrait)
- Up to 16 photos and 1 video per listing
- Video: 15 seconds maximum
- No contact details or off-Poshmark links in photos
Step by step
- 01
Set up soft, even light
Shoot next to a large window in daylight with overhead bulbs switched off, so warm and cool light don't mix and shift your colors. Put a sheet of white foam board on the side away from the window to lift the shadows. Avoid direct midday sun and your phone's flash: both create hard glare and dark shadows that hide detail.
- 02
Use a white or simple background
Poshmark's own guidance is to keep the cover shot product-focused on a white or simple background. A plain wall, a white sheet or poster board works. Steam or press clothing first; wrinkles read as worn.
- 03
Frame the cover shot for the 3:4 portrait feed
Shoot in portrait, center the item vertically, fill the frame and leave a little space at the edges. Square photos are still accepted, but the feed frames them as portrait, so wide shots can get trimmed.
- 04
Choose flat lay, hanger or modeled
Flat lays suit jeans, kids' clothes and folded knits. A clean hanger against a plain door gives tops and dresses shape without a model. Modeled shots show fit; crop faces if you prefer and keep poses modest.
- 05
Add tags, flaws and measurements
Photograph the brand tag, the size and fabric tag, any flaws, and a tape measure across key measurements such as pit to pit and length. For designer items, show serial numbers, date codes and hardware stamps.
- 06
Edit lightly and use the video slot
Edit for brightness, straightness and white balance only. Filters and saturation boosts change how the item looks, and a buyer who receives a different color has a reason to complain. Use the 15-second video for anything where texture or movement sells, such as sequins, satin or how a bag opens.
The shots to take
| Shot | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Cover shot, portrait 3:4 | Decides whether shoppers stop scrolling; item centered and filling the frame. |
| Back and side views | Shows the full garment, the inside of bags and the soles of shoes. |
| Brand tag close-up | Confirms authenticity; essential for designer pieces. |
| Size and fabric tag | Answers the most common buyer questions before they ask. |
| Measurements with a tape measure | Prevents fit-related returns and cases. |
| Flaw close-ups | Showing flaws up front protects you if a buyer opens a case. |

Common mistakes
Old square framing
Shoot covers in portrait 3:4 so the feed doesn't trim the item.
Wrinkled clothes on a busy bedspread
Steam first and shoot on a plain wall or white sheet.
No measurements
Add a tape-measure photo; fit questions are the most common comment.
Hiding stains or pilling
Photograph every flaw; it protects you if a buyer opens a case.
Questions sellers ask
- What size should Poshmark pictures be?
- Poshmark doesn't publish a pixel size. Since 2026 photos display in portrait 3:4 in the feed, so a portrait photo of at least 1080 × 1440 px is a good target.
- Are Poshmark photos square or portrait?
- Portrait. Poshmark moved listing and cover photos to a 3:4 portrait format in 2026. Square photos still work, but the feed frames them as portrait.
- How many photos can I add to a Poshmark listing?
- Up to 16 photos and 1 video of up to 15 seconds.
- What background is best for Poshmark?
- A white or simple background keeps the cover shot product-focused, which is what Poshmark recommends.
