Main image size by marketplace
The main image is the one shoppers see in search results, so it carries the strictest rules. A 2000 × 2000 px square JPG on a white background passes on every platform below; each platform page lists the extra rules for secondary images.

Why sizes differ between platforms
Each marketplace crops and compresses photos for its own search grid, zoom viewer and mobile app. Amazon needs 1,000 px or more for zoom; Etsy wants at least 2,000 px on the shortest side; Shopify displays square images best at 2048 × 2048 px. Uploading below these sizes gets you blurry zoom or, on Amazon and Etsy, lower placement in search.
